Relations between Senegal and the Bank have taken on a new dimension since 2014, with Phase 1 of the Emerging Senegal Plan (PSE) during which the IsDB Group has provided finance of USD 1.8 billion becoming the country's main development partner.

The Bank hopes to continue its cooperation under the second phase of the PSE and believes that Senegal can become a model for the IsDB Group in achieving its development aspirations, including the promotion of Islamic finance, science, technology and innovation, the use of a value chain-based model approach.

As part of its continued partnership, Senegal has agreed to host the IsDB’s second Transformers Summit, a conference bringing together a powerful coalition of entrepreneurs, innovators and leaders from around the world to discuss the role of Science, Innovation and Technology in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 11. The conference will take place in Dakar in December 2019.
