How do I apply?

You must complete and submit the online application form, which will include information about yourself, contact details, academic background, and upload required documents. Any incomplete application shall not be considered.

When do I apply?

You can apply for the programme only when the announcement of the call for applications is launched through the website every year, in December and deadline for submission of applications is end of February.

How do I know I am eligible to apply?

As each programme has its own eligibility criteria, you need to visit the scholarship portal and read carefully the eligibility criteria of the programme of your choice before applying.

As stated under each programme in the IsDB Portal and in the online application form, you are required to upload all documents to support your application, basically copy of the following:

  • National ID or Passport
  • CV/Resume
  • Academic Certificate and Transcripts
  • Medical Health Certificate
  • University Admission/Registration (if available)
  • Research Proposal (for Master, Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral applicants)
  • Evidence of language proficiency in university medium of instruction as relevant (e.g., for English, by a recognized language certificate such as TOEFL, IELTS or passed required level test conducted such as by British Council or equivalent system in French or other languages).

What documents should I submit with my application?

In which language should I submit my documents?

You must provide certified English or French translation of all documents required for your application, in case if they are initially in other languages. Failure to comply with this, your application will not be entertained.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship programme?

In such cases, only one application will be considered.

Can I apply for scholarship before being accepted into a university?

Yes, you can still apply before gaining university admission, however, it is preferable if you have an admission letter from a reputable public university in your own country.

What fields of study are covered?

Eligible candidate must apply only for studies in one of the fields of study listed under each programme in the IsDB Scholarships portal and the online application form. Please refer to the list of approved fields for the programme of your choice.

What if I get an admission in a field of study not under the IsDB approved fields?

Admission in other than the approved fields will not be accepted.

Where will I study if selected?

Students are required to study only at top 10 reputable government/public universities in their own countries. 

What if I could not secure admission in my home country?

The admission is the entire responsibility of the student. However, in case the student could not secure admission in his/her own countries due to any unavoidable situations (instability in the country, unavailability of field of study, etc.),  the IsDB may seek the help of member countries having agreement with the IsDB.  The final decision of the admission is subject to the acceptance by the respective universities in these countries.

Who will decide on my place of study?

The place of study for selected students is solely decided by the IsDB International Selection Committee. The decision of the Committee is not revocable.

What will happen to my application after submission?

Your application will be screened to ascertain completeness of the information and documents and relevance to the eligibility criteria. Any incomplete applications will be disqualified. Only Qualified applications will be submitted to the International Selection Committee for review and decision.

Can I edit/update my application profile or upload documents after submission?

No. You CANNOT edit or update your application once submitted, as all submitted applications will automatically be moved to the next step of the selection process.

What if I cannot upload the required documents, complete all fields or successfully submit my application?

This problem usually occurs, while applicants try to submit their applications lately or due to technical issues. Applicants are advised to start filling their applications early enough to avoid any unprecedented situations or late submission. It is very important to note that only the applicant can fill and submit the application as the system does not allow any other person to do it on his / her behalf.

Will I be able to follow up/know the status of my application?

No. After submission, the application will be under review and the application status, in the applicant view, will continue to show “In-Progress”. However, applicants will not be able to view the progress in the status of their submitted applications before announcement of final selection results.

When should I expect to hear from IsDB scholarships about the outcome of my application?

After approval by IsDB Management, all registered applicants will receive an email notification to inform them about the result of selection. In general, the final result is expected to be announced in July, every year.

What will be the next steps, If I am selected for the scholarship?

You will receive an email notification, through your email address registered in the system, on the result and the scholarship offer letter explaining the award conditions. You MUST respond by email to confirm whether you accept or reject the scholarship offer. If you accept the offer, in order to complete your registration/enrollment in the programme, you will need to provide the following:

  • University admission, within 60 days from receipt of the offer, and as per the IsDB students’ on-boarding criteria.
  • Health medical certificate.
  • Duly Completed and signed/stamped IsDB Scholarship’s Agreement.
  • Students from Muslim communities in non-member countries must provide evidence to prove that they are Muslim.

If you reject the offer, please inform the IsDB Scholarship Division, the soonest, so as to provide the scholarship opportunity to another candidate.

How long is the validity of the scholarship offer?

The scholarship offer is valid for Six months from the date of receiving the offer letter issued by the IsDB Scholarships.

When am I expected to start my study under IsDB Scholarship?

After you fulfil all scholarship’s requirements and complete documents, selected students are expected to join immediately their programmes during the academic year following their selection as per the academic calendar adopted by their respective universities.

What are the entitlements of selected candidate?

Monthly living allowance commensurate with the cost of living of the country of study, medical coverage at university or public hospitals and tuition fees, if any, subject to the programme ceiling amount as approved by the IsDB.  Student selected to study abroad will also benefit from economy class return tickets to and from the country of study (once at the beginning and one at the completion of study period), one-off payment of installation allowance at the time of arrival to the country of study.

Note: The programme does not cover expenses for the student’s family; extra-curricular courses of training; language courses and any additional travel during the study programme.

When and How do I receive my entitlements?

Upon completion of the university registration, confirmation of commencement of study, students will start receiving their entitlements, as soon as they send their bank accounts details in their place of study, and as per the scholarship payment schedule (in two installments per year, for the periods Jan – Jun. & July – Dec.)

What are my obligations towards the IsDB?

As each programme has its own obligations, please refer to the programme you are interested in, through the IsDB Scholarship page.

What will be my relationship with IsDB after graduation?

After graduation, all students must join IsDB Alumni, provide regular update on their professional careers and participate actively in the activities stated under Alumni.
