IsDB Conducts Procurement Workshop to Foster Knowledge Sharing and Best Practices in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, 30 November 2023 – The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) held a four-day country procurement workshop in the Republic of Uzbekistan from November 27 to 30, 2023.
The workshop was opened by Mr. Ibrahim Shoukry, Head of IsDB Regional Hub Almaty, Mr. Rustan Narzulloyev, Director of Department for Assessment, Expertise of FS and Coordination of Bidding, Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, and Mr. Ulugbek Yunusov, Deputy Director of Department for Cooperation with IFIs and Donor States (MIIT).
The participants were represented by staff of line Ministries, relevant executing agencies and project management units (EAs/PMUs) and local contractors/consultants. The workshop covered key requirements contained in the IsDB’s respective Policy and Procedures for Procurement that need to be complied with all IsDB financed activities in the country.
The workshop, conducted in Russian, provided a knowledge-sharing platform to benefit from lessons learned and best practices, which will contribute to the improvement of effectiveness and efficiency in projects financed by IsDB in Uzbekistan.
The IsDB shared tools and case studies on conducting due diligence for effective project implementation and development effectiveness. They also provided the local bidding community with an overview of the Bank’s procurement framework and the implementation mechanism and provided the essentials of exploring and identifying IsDB-financed business opportunities in Uzbekistan.
The IsDB continues to support the capacity efforts of Uzbekistan to develop national systems that help to assure procurement activities are conducted efficiently, leveraging the tools of IsDB’s New Procurement Framework, and ultimately helping deliver the maximum benefits of Value for Money to the Beneficiary.
