H.E. the IsDB President Visited the National Slum Upgrading Project in Mauk, Indonesia

Tangerang, Indonesia – 18 July 2022 – H.E. the IsDB President, Dr. Al Jasser, together with the Regent of Tangerang, Mr. Ahmed Zaki Iskandar and Mr. Salah Jelassi, the Resident Representative of the IsDB Regional Hub Indonesia, visited the National Slum Upgrading Project in Mauk, Tangerang. The Integrated Community Driven Development (ICDD) project supports infrastructure, economic and livelihood development in over 4,900 villages across 115 cities, and 15 provinces in Indonesia.

During the visit, Dr. Al Jasser met with various community members who expressed their deep appreciation to the IsDB Group for the positive changes and shared their aspirations on how they would like to capitalize on the infrastructure for their economic and social upliftment. ''It's a great pleasure for me to be here today to witness the fruits of our partnerships with the government of Indonesia in improving the livelihoods and working conditions of the communities in this region, and that is the essence of IsDB's development.'', Dr. Al Jasser expressed.

The Indonesia National Slum Upgrading Project (NSUP) is a Government Program under the Directorate General of Human Settlements (DGHS), Ministry of Public Works and Housing. A total of 7.1 million people have benefitted from the program, of which half are women. The program has successfully reduced the slum areas by 13,094 Ha.
