Lives and Livelihoods Fund Delegation Engages with Ugandan Officials to Boost Economic Growth and Food Security

Kampala, Uganda, 13 August 2023 - The Ministry of Local Government, Uganda, is hosting a 13-member senior delegation from the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) from August 14–18, 2023. Headed by Dr. Issahaq Umar Iddrisu, Manager Islamic Development Bank Regional Hub Kampala, the delegation includes donor members from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief).

The 5-day working visit is being organized under the LLF-supported US$ 33 million initiative, titled, Local Economic Growth Support (LEGS) Project, co-financed by the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Local Government. IsDB Injects US $800 Million in Project Financing to Improve Lives and Drive SDGs in Member Countries

IsDB 2022 Evaluation Report is Out, Reveals Remarkable Improvement in Project Quality

Jeddah, KSA 22 August 2023: The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has unveiled its Annual Evaluation Report 2022, showcasing remarkable improvement in project quality. The report, prepared by the Independent Evaluation Department (IEvD), encapsulates the evaluations of IsDB interventions conducted throughout 2022.

The report rigorously assessed the development effectiveness of the IsDB interventions to promote the use of evidence to inform decision-making and generate evidence for improving quality, relevance, and timeliness. IEvD also carried out a series of evaluation capacity development initiatives through productive partnerships with peer development institutions.

During 2022, IEvD evaluated 11 projects including two projects assessed jointly with other development partners. The average score of all 11 projects evaluated during 2022 was 79 percent, a sharp rise from 67 percent in 2012, indicating significant improvement in the overall performance of IsDB projects in the member countries over the past decade.

Out of the 11 projects evaluated, five projects (46%) were rated ‘Highly Successful’, four projects (36%) were rated ‘Successful’, while two projects (18%) were found to be ‘Partly Successful’. The evaluations also demonstrated a positive evolution in project performance compared to the year 2021. In 2021, only 25 percent of the projects were rated ‘Highly Successful’ and during 2012 – 2022, only 36 percent of the evaluated projects were rated ‘Highly Successful’, compared to 46 percent in 2022. IsDB-Financed Bridge Easing Urban Congestion for 30,000 Vehicles Inaugurated by Côte d'Ivoire's President

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, 17 August 2023: In a momentous event that marked a milestone in Côte d'Ivoire's development, H.E. Alassane Ouattara, the President of Côte d'Ivoire, officiated the inauguration of the highly anticipated Cocody Bridge on Saturday, August 12th, 2023. 

The Cocody Bridge, an architectural marvel and a key component of the Cocody Bay Development initiative, came to fruition through a joint effort, with the Islamic Development Bank playing a pivotal role. At an estimated total cost of EUR 530 million, the project exemplifies urban mobility and advancement. The Islamic Development Bank's substantial contribution of approximately EUR 260 million has been integral to the bridge's realization. View More
