The Government of Turkmenistan has received financing from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and other financiers for the Balkan Velayat Water Supply Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this financing to cover the cost of the contract for Consultancy Services for the Preparation of Detailed Design, Tender Documents, Coordination and Supervision of the Construction Works. The project aims at improving the quality of water supply services in Balkan Velayat by increasing water resources availability and providing sustainable access to higher quality potable water to the population. This will be achieved through drilling new wells, upgrading existing water supply and treatment infrastructure and laying a new 121 km water transmission pipeline. The services include the preparation of detailed engineering design, preparation of the tender documents, tendering, coordination and supervision of the construction works. The Balkan Velayat Municipality (Executing Agency) now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, general qualifications and number of key staff and so forth). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications. A consultant will be selected, from a shortlist of consultancy firms limited to IDB member countries, in accordance with the procedures set out in the Guidelines for the Use of Consultants under Islamic Development Bank Financing, May 2009.
