INVITATION FOR PREQUALIFICATION Country: Republic of Uzbekistan Project Name: Project for Reconstruction of M39 Road Tashkent-Termez Sector: Road works The Republican Road Fund under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan has received an Istisna’a financing from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) towards the cost of the Reconstruction of M39 Road Tashkent-Termez, and intends to apply part of the proceeds towards payments under the contracts for civil works. The Republican Road Fund under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan intends to prequalify contractors and/or firms for the execution of civil works which consist of two packages: 1. Contract Package-1 [Road Section Km 1330-1395 (65 km)]: The existing road is under Category-III (2 traffic lanes) and will be upgraded into Category-I (4 traffic lanes of 3.75 m wide each). Such civil works are to meet four-lane international design standard road within the existing right-of-way with asphalt concrete pavement. The civil works will also comprise the construction of 16 bridges and 2 interchanges, one over railway as well as construction and equipment of 2 weighting stations for axle load control including a set of traffic counters. 2. Contract Package-2 [Road Section Km 1400-1410, 1426-1451 (35 km)]: The existing road is under Category-III (2 traffic lanes) and will be upgraded into Category-I (4 traffic lanes of 3.75 m wide each). Such civil works are to meet four-lane international design standard road within the existing right-of-way with asphalt concrete pavement. The civil works will also comprise the construction of 13 bridges and 3 interchanges, one over railway. Prequalification will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the IDB’s Guidelines for Procurement of Goods and Works under Islamic Development Bank Financing, (June 2005), and is open to all eligible bidders from IDB member countries.
