The Government of The Gambia has received financing in the amount of US$37.50 million United State Dollars equivalent from the Islamic Development Bank toward the cost of the School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project.: This project will be jointly financed by the with the Child Fund and the government of the Gambia  

 

The project will include the following components

 Component 1: Civil Works-Expansion of Health Academic Infrastructure

Component 2: Supervision of Works and Equipment Implementation.

Component 3: Equipment and Technology

Component 4: Academic and Program Development/ Faculty Development and Capacity Building

Component 5: Project Management, Community Engagement, and Outreach

Component 6: External Financial Audit

The procurement to be conducted in different categories under this project and are ICB and ICB- MC are as follows.

Works

• Construction of SMASH facilities 

Shared facilities for the SMAHS (2,150 m2),

Facilities for Department of Public & Environmental Health (2,933 m2),

Facilities for Department of Nursing (4,552 m2),

Facilities for Department of Medicine (4,248 m2),

Facilities for Department of Pharmacy (4,248 m2),

Department of Allied Health Sciences (3,590 m2)

• Advanced medical and laboratory equipment  
• ICT infrastructure for e-learning  

Consultancy Service:

• Supervision and Control of Works and Supervision of Equipment Supply, Installation & Commissioning   
• Faculty Development and Training Programs 
• Curriculum Development and Program Expansion  
• Green Telemedicine 

Procurement of contracts financed by the Islamic Development Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the Guidelines for the Procurement of Goods, Works and Related Services under Islamic Development Bank Project Financing (April 2019 edition, amended from time to time), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the Guidelines for the Procurement of Consultancy Services under Islamic Development Bank Project Financing (April 2019 edition, amended from time to time).[1]

 

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the Islamic Development Bank’s international competitive bidding (ICB) or international competitive bidding – member countries (ICB/MC) procedures and for contracts for consultancy services will be announced, as they become available, in IsDB Website and in local newspapers include ; Foroyaa Newspaper, Point newspapers , Standard Newspaper, Voice Newspaper and Observer 24 Newspaper.
