SPECIFIC PROCUREMENT NOTICE Invitation for Prequalification Republic of Kazakhstan THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE ROAD SECTION “BORDER OF SOUTH KAZAKHSTAN OBLAST – TARAZ” UNDER THE WESTERN EUROPE – WESTERN CHINA INTERNATIONAL TRANSIT CORRIDOR Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Road Section Loan No.2KHZ0050 This invitation for prequalification follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in the website of Islamic Development Bank dated from January 29, 2009. The Republic of Kazakhstan has applied for a loan from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) toward the cost of the proposed the Reconstruction of the Road section “Border of South Kazakhstan Oblast – Taraz” under the Western Europe -Western China International Transit Corridor, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for rehabilitation and reconstruction of 58 kilometers of road sections between border of South Kazakhstan oblast to Taraz. The project implementing agency in Kazakhstan the Ministry of Transport and Communications intends to prequalify contractors for 1 (one) contract for rehabilitation and reconstruction of road section which is detailed below: 1. Contract Road Section between Km 536 and 593 of Border of South Kazakhstan oblast -Taraz Road in Zhambyl Oblast, CW-1: Rehabilitation and reconstruction 4 lanes road section between km 536 and km 593 (58 kms). Works will start in construction season of 2009 and is expected to last 36 months. Prequalification will be conducted through prequalification procedures specified in the Islamic Development Bank’s Guidelines for Procurement under IDB Financing (dated June 2005), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries, as defined in the guidelines. Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information from and inspect the prequalification document at the Committee (address below) from 9:30 to 18:00 hours. A complete set of the prequalification document in English may be purchased by interested applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below, original copy of power of attorney and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of 18000 Tenge (Kazakhstan national currency) (original copy of bank’s receipt is required).
