The Republic of the Sudan Ministry of the Cabinet Project Implementation Unit Khartoum New International Airport (KNIA) New Passenger Terminal at Khartoum New International Airport (KNIA) Brief Description of Works The scope of work comprises the construction of a new Passenger Terminal for domestic and international traffic with a design capacity of app. 6.5 million passengers p.a. and approximately 50,000 sqm of gross floor areas on 2 ½ floors (including mezzanine level). Five boarding bridges will be fixed to the new terminal, which will be fully equipped with all IT, security, baggage handling, furniture and building services. Procurement will be International Competitive Bidding limited to IDB member countries (ICB/ MC). It is intended to award the construction contract on the basis of FIDC form of contract for Turnkey Lump Sum. This invitation for prequalification follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared on IDB website, on 06.01.2011. The Republic of the Sudan has applied for financing from the Islamic Development Bank toward the cost of the new passenger terminal at KNIA, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this financing to payments under the contract for MCC9 (Main Construction Contract) New Passenger Terminal. The Government of Sudan has nominated the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) under the Ministry of Cabinet to act as the implementing agency. PIU intends to pre-qualify contractors and/or firms for the construction of the new passenger terminal. Interested applicants should have at least completed two international passenger terminals of similar size and complexity in the last 10 years and should submit a confirmation of successful completion from respective clients. It is expected that invitations to bid will be made in the first quarter of 2011. Prequalification will be conducted through prequalification procedures specified in the Islamic Development Bank’s Guidelines for Procurement of Works under IDB Financing, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries, as defined in the Guidelines. Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information from and inspect the prequalification document at the premises of the PIU at Sudan Airways Building, Riyadh, Obeid Khatim Street Khartoum, Sudan from 09:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday. A complete set of the prequalification document in English language may be purchased by interested applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of 300 US$. The method of payment will be in cash or cheque. The document will be either handed over or sent by mail as softcopy.
