Invitation for Bids (IFB) REHABILITATION WORKS ON THE SECONDARY AND TERTIARY IRRIGATION INFRASTRUTURES FOR IRRIGATION, DRAINAGE AND SERVICE ROADS IN ABOUT 7.000 ha (PHASE I) IN THE RIO HIDRAULIC SECTOR OF CHÓKWÈ IRRIGATED PERIMETER-MOZAMBIQUE IDB Financing No: MOZ – 20&21 Project Name: Chókwè Irrigation Rehabilitation Project 1. The Government of Mozambique has received financing from the Islamic Development Bank towards the cost of Rehabilitation of Secondary and Tertiary Canals in the Rio Hydraulic Sector of the Chókwè Irrigated Perimeter and intends to apply part of the funds to cover eligible payments under the Contract for Rehabilitation works on the secondary and tertiary irrigation infrastructures for irrigation, drainage and service roads, in about 7.000 ha (Phase I) in Chókwè irrigation scheme.Bidding is open to all bidders from Member Countries as defined in the Guidelines for the Procurement of Goods and Works under IDB financing. For the propose of these Guidelines, a Member Country contractor or supplier is defined as follows: a) - It is registered or otherwise organized in a Member Country of IDB; b) - Its principal place of business is located in a Member Country of IDB; c) - It is more than 50% beneficially owned by a firm or firms in one or more Member Countries (which firm or firms must also qualify as to nationality) and/or citizens of such Member Countries; d) – not less than 80% of all persons who will perform services under the contract, whether employed directly or by subcontractor, are nationals of IDB Member Country or of other Member Countries; and e) – The majority of managerial and professional staff is nationals of the Beneficiary Member Country. 2. The Ministry of Agriculture - UIP invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the rehabilitation works on the secondary and tertiary irrigation infrastructures, covering 7,000 ha (phase I). The project area, called BID, is developed between the Canal do Rio to the north and Vala V to the south. The west by Canal R1 and east by canal R8. 3. Bidding documents (and additional copies) may be purchased at National Directorate of Agrarian Services (DNSA), Rua da Resistência, 1746, 2nd floor Maputo (Telephone: + 258 21415110 facsmile: +258 21415103) - Mozambique for a nonrefundable fee of one hundred and Fifty American dollars, or its equivalent in a freely-convertible currency, for each set. Interested bidders may obtain further information at the same address. 4. Bids shall be valid for a period of 120 (one hundred and twenty) after Bid opening and must be accompanied by security of USD 100,000 (one hundred thousand American Dollars) or its equivalent in a convertible currency, and shall be delivered to National Directorate of Agrarian Services (DNSA), Rua da Resistência, 1746, 2nd floor, Maputo Telephone: + 258 21415110 facsmile: +258 21415103 on or before 9.00 am, 05th May 2011, at which time they will be opened in the presence of the bidders who wish to attend. 5.
