GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE (GPN) Republic of Uzbekistan The Support to Secondary Education Sector in Uzbekistan Project, Uzbekistan UZB-0060 The Republic of Uzbekistan has recieved 7 980 000 Islamic Dinars under the loan from the Islamic Development Bank to finance the the Support to Secondary Education Sector in Uzbekistan Project (UZB-0060), Uzbekistan The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the alleviation of rural poverty in Uzbekistan. The specific objective is to provide 2,800 secondary school students in poor rural areas with quality education and appropriate knowledge that will prepare them for vocational and technical education and enter the job market with relevant qualifications. This will be achieved by constructing and equipping 13 secondary schools, each having an enrolment capacity of 216 students, in the rural areas in eight Regions of Uzbekistan, and training of 300 teachers. 400 to 500 students in total are expected to graduate from these schools each year. The project includes the following components: Component #1 – Civil works Component #2 – Equipment, furniture, learning materials Component #3 – Consultancy services and Audit Component #4 – Training of teachers Component #5 – Project Implementation Unit Procurement of Goods and Works will be in accordance with the Guidelines for Procurement of Goods and Works under the Islamic Development Bank Financing (May 2009). Acquisition of the services of the consultants will follow the Guidelines for the use of Consultants under the Islamic Development Bank Financing (May 2009). Procurement of Goods: Procurement of Equipment, furniture, learning materials will be procured through National Competitive Bidding based on Guidelines for Procurement of Goods and Works under the Islamic Development Bank Financing (May 2009).. Procurement of Works: Procurement of Civil works will be procured through ICB limited to IDB member country contractors. Selection of Consultants: Consultancy services for design and supervision of 13 schools for 216 and 315 students will be hired through a competitive bidding process using QCBS method among the short-listed reputable consultancy firms from IDB member-countries consultants.
