Specific Procurement Notice for Reconstruction of Inter-Farm Canals with Related Structures
SPECIFIC PROCUREMENT NOTICE Invitation for Prequalification Republic of Uzbekistan Reconstruction of Main Irrigation Canals of Tashsaka System Project in Khorezm Region Sector: Agriculture Reconstruction of Inter-farm Canals with related Structures ISTISNA’A Loan No.: UZB 64 & 65 Contract No. RMICTIS/ICB-MC/04UZ The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has received a financing from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and Jeddah Declaration toward the cost of the Reconstruction of Main Irrigation Canals of Tashsaka System Project in Khorezm Region and it intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for the reconstruction of Package No. 4, which comprises the following canals and related structures: 1. Beg-Yab, 2. Udashi, 3. Keneges, 4. Madyr-Yab 2, 5. R-9, 6. Navoi-Yab and 7. Augment Kulovat canals. These canals are independent of each other and lay in different locations in the project area. Each canal constitutes a separate identity that requires its own gear and construction management. Several sub-contractors under the jurisdiction of the main contractor can possibly therefor carry out the construction of these canals in parallel. This package will be financed by the IsDB. The Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources (MAWR) now invites contractors and/or firms from eligible applicants to pre-qualify for the reconstruction of the above canals, which will include the reconstruction of river bed, reinforcement of canal banks, concrete lining, earth filling and reconstruction of existing structures. These secondary canals are of length varying from 11.62 km to 36.3 km, with various cross sections. The depth of the water in the canals is about 1 to 4 m with a maximum flow capacity of 1.7 – 15 m3 per second. The reconstruction work will require heavy machinery such as mobile equipment for in-situ concreting of the canals bed and slopes, excavators, dredgers, sheet piling, concrete mixers, concrete guniting and lining, possible construction of gabions, pumping facilities (including well-point system), compaction and vibration gears and any other machinery or equipment necessary for the sound construction of the work, the safety of the general public and the protection of the environment. The construction period is 45 months. Prequalification will be conducted through prequalification procedures as specified in the IsDB’s Guidelines for Procurement of Goods and Works under Islamic Development Bank Financing (2009). A complete set of prequalification documents in English language may be purchased by interested Applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Three Hundred US Dollars.
