Pursuant to Royal Decree 30430 of 25/6/1437H on the establishment of state-of-the-art slaughterhouses for the Saudi Project for Utilization of Hajj Meat (Adahi), the project’s consultancy services contract was signed on Thursday 26 Shawwal, 1438H between H.E. Dr. Bandar bin Mohammed Hamza Hajjar, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group, and Mr. Ebrahim Oboud Baeshen, Managing Partner of KPMG, which was awarded the contract.
It is noteworthy that the Royal Decree included the approval of the recommendations submitted by the committee that studied the replacement of the Adahi project’s slaughterhouses with modern ones. Part of the recommendations was for the Adahi project, upon agreement with the Ministry of Finance, to invite at least five specialized consultancy firms to bid on the preparation of a consultancy study and tender specifications for the construction of slaughterhouses in accordance with the
requirements of modern technology. The study also includes the establishment of slaughterhouses with a capacity that matches the current expansion of the ritual areas and accommodates the increasing number of pilgrims, equipped with an integrated automated system for skinning, cutting, transportation, cleaning, preservation, and distribution, while maximizing the utilization of all output components of the slaughtering process in suitable manufacturing processes. Also required was the
application of modern technologies to cure and can meat using best modern practices to preserve it for no less than 12 months without refrigeration.
The contract signed today comes as part of a series of steps to implement the aforementioned Royal Decree, which is in line with the major development projects that are being implemented in the ritual areas, reflecting the keenness of the Saudi government on providing the best services to the pilgrims.
The signing ceremony was attended by Engineer Saad bin Hamdan Al-Hamdan, representative of the Ministry of Finance on the Adahi Committee and head of the Award Committee, Engineer Moussa bin Ali Al-Akkasi, General Supervisor of the Adahi project, and Dr. Fareed Filimban, the Adahi Coordinator at IDB.
