Singaporean Muslim Community Urged to Share Experiences with Muslims Around the World

Singapore : Wednesday, September 20, 2006/ H.E. Dr Ahmad Mohamed Ali, President, Islamic Development Bank, urged the Muslim community of Singapore to share their experiences in the area of utilizing waqf institutions for the development of their society with other Muslim communities around the world and assured IDB's cooperation in sharing such knowledge and experience with the other Muslim communities around the world.

Dr Ali was speaking at a reception held in his honour by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, an institution serving the Muslim community under the Government of Singapore, on the occasion of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank/IMF in Singapore.
H.E. Dr Yacoub Ibrahim, Minister for Water and Environment in Charge of Muslim Affairs in the Govt of Singapore, hosted the reception, which was attended by several distinguished leaders of the Muslim community. The President, IDB, was also impressed at how resources were mobilized and utilized by the Singapore Muslim community, which, could be a lesson to be shared with other Muslim communities.

H.E. Hj Mohamed Alami Musa, President, Islamic Religious Council of Singapore welcomed the President and his delegation and expressed thanks and gratitude to the Islamic Development Bank for supporting the educational programs of the Singaporean Muslim community. The IDB has so far provided grants to 8 educational institutions of the Muslim community in Singapore.
