IDB Executes Somalia Aid Program from Fael Al Khair and ICD Contributions

Jeddah, 29.1.2012 -Within the framework of relief programs for Somalia, the IDB executed urgent relief aid provided by Fael Al Khair, an anonymous donor, and the ICD, an affiliate of the IDB Group. The programs included digging and reconstructing five water wells in the Mudug and Burao regions for approximately US$ 490,000.
Additionally the IDB also carried out relief programs by executing projects for the supply of medical equipments to hospitals in Hargesia and Jalkayo, food supplies to children and mothers through a general hospital at Jalkayo, etc., at a total cost of US$ 713,000. Some of these projects were carried out with the cooperation of the United Arab Doctors.
It may be noted that during 2011, IDB utilized around US$ 2.2 million to support various relief programs in Somalia.
