IDB Group Welcomes the New OIC Secretary General

18.02.2014, Jeddah, KSA – The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group will organize on Tuesday evening, 18 February, a formal reception in honor of Dr. Iyad Bin Amin Madani, the new Secretary General of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The reception, to be hosted by the IDB Group Chairman, Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Ali , will be attended by Permanent Representatives to the OIC as well as Consul Generals and Representatives of the diplomatic corps and regional and international organizations in Jeddah.

On Wednesday morning, the OIC Secretary General will meet with the IDB Group Chairman and will be briefed on the IDB Group activities and services for the member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries. The meeting is aimed at promoting cooperation between the OIC and the IDB Group towards fostering solidarity among member states.

Representing the Islamic World with 57 member states in four continents, the OIC is considered the largest international organization after the UN. Since January 2014, Dr. Iyad Madani took office from Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu as the 10th Secretary General of the OIC. Previously, he has served as Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Minister of Culture and Information.
