IDB Signs Agreement for More Than US$ 12 Million With Mali

20.06.2012, Jeddah, KSA – Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali, the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group and H.E. Tiena Coulibaly, Mali’s Minister of Economy, Finance and Budget signed a US$ 12.4 million agreement for a social housing project in the capital city of Bamako.
According to the agreement, by 2014 the project is expected to provide suitable housing along with basic facilities such as water, electricity and sanitation services for around 1000 families with low and medium income in Bamako. The project will also provide around 8600 job opportunities during the construction period.
On the occasion of signing H.E. Tiena Coulibaly presented the progress of IDB financed projects in Mali as well as future projects that are proposed to be financed by IDB Group, particularly those involving food security and electric power generation. The IDB Group President underlined the Bank’s willingness to provide its best support to such programs and projects.
The IDB Group has so far approved US$ 756 million for 90 operations in Mali covering development projects, trade financing and private sector support.
