IsDB Group Chairman Visits Garabagh Region to Witness Azerbaijan’s Reconstruction and Development Progress
Garabagh, Republic of Azerbaijan, 8 May 2026 — H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, accompanied by H.E. Mr. Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy and IsDB Governor for the Republic of Azerbaijan, and H.E. Mr. Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited the Garabagh region as part of his official mission to the Republic of Azerbaijan, where they witnessed ongoing efforts aimed at advancing economic development, education, and community infrastructure across the region.
The visit marked Dr. Al Jasser’s second visit to the Garabagh region, following his first visit in 2023, and provided an opportunity to witness firsthand the significant reconstruction and development progress achieved across the region over the past years.
The visit included engagements in Aghdam, Khankendi, and Fuzuli, focusing on industrial development, youth empowerment, and human capital investment.
In Aghdam, Dr. Al Jasser visited Aghdam Industrial Park and met with entrepreneurs and business representatives operating across manufacturing, agro-processing, logistics, engineering, and construction-related industries. Established in 2021, the Industrial Park has emerged as one of Azerbaijan’s leading industrial zones and plays an important role in supporting economic activity, investment, and employment opportunities in the region.
Dr. Al Jasser also visited Garabagh University in Khankendi, where he met with students, faculty members, and university leadership. During the engagement, he emphasized the importance of education, skills development, and youth empowerment in building resilient and forward-looking societies, while reaffirming the IsDB Group’s continued commitment to supporting human capital development across Member Countries.
As part of the visit, the IsDB Group Chairman toured schools in Fuzuli, where he observed ongoing efforts to strengthen learning environments and expand access to modern educational facilities. He commended the importance placed on education and the development of future generations as part of broader national development priorities.
Throughout the visit, Dr. Al Jasser reiterated the IsDB Group’s commitment to supporting sustainable development initiatives in Azerbaijan, particularly in areas related to infrastructure, water resources, private sector development, education, and economic diversification.
The visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan also provided an opportunity to review progress on ongoing cooperation between the IsDB Group and the Republic of Azerbaijan, including strategic initiatives aimed at supporting long-term socio-economic growth and regional connectivity.
