IsDB Group Strengthens Strategic Partnerships with Development Partners during 2026 Annual Meetings in Baku
Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, 17 June 2026 – In conjunction with the 2026 Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Annual Meetings, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the IsDB Group, held bilateral meetings with leading development partners, including, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), and the OPEC Fund for International Development, reiterating the Group’s commitment to strengthening collaboration and scaling up development impact.
The exchange between H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, IsDB Group Chairman, and H.E. Mr. Abdullah Khalil Al Musaibeeh, President of BADEA, focused on consolidating partnerships bilaterally and within Arab Coordination Group and advancing joint development initiatives. Both sides highlighted the strong results achieved under the May 2021 Memorandum of Understanding, which has facilitated US$733 million in co-financing to date.
The meeting also emphasized ongoing flagship collaborations, including the Alliance to Fight Avoidable Blindness and the Arab-Africa Trade Bridges Program, which continue to support sustainable development across a wide range of sectors in Africa.
In a separate meeting with H.E. Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, President of the OPEC Fund for International Development, discussions highlighted the long-standing and highly productive partnership between the two institutions. Over the past six months alone, the collaboration has mobilized more than US$1 billion in co-financing across key sectors, including energy, education, water, and health.
Cumulatively, co-financing between the IsDB Group and the OPEC Fund for International Development has reached US$10.3 billion, supporting 166 projects with a total value of US$37 billion, demonstrating the scale and strategic importance of the partnership.
