IsDB President Pays A Courtesy Call on President Joko Widodo

Jakarta, 28 March 2022 – Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President and Group Chairman, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser ,  as part of his official engagement in the Republic of Indonesia was honored and pleased to meet with H.E Joko Widodo, the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

The two leaders reviewed the ongoing IsDB Group financed projects in the country and explored ways to further enhance the enduring partnerships between the two sides. Dr Al Jasser expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the people and the government of the Republic of Indonesia for their continued support to the IsDB Group initiatives in the country and affirmed his commitment to the country’s development priorities in line with the national development plan.

Dr. Al Jasser also congratulated the country on the occasion of the G20 Presidency for the current year and assured the continued support of IsDB Group for the meeting and its agenda.

The Republic of Indonesia joined the IsDB on August 12, 1974 (as one of its founding members). Indonesia’s capital subscription to IsDB is ID1,138 million (2.25% of total IsDB subscribed capital), of which the paid-up capital is ID 148.2 million. Indonesia is also a member of the IsDB Group Entities (ICIEC, ICD, ITFC, and IsDBI).

To date, the IsDB Group has approved a total financing of about US$ 6 billion (second largest Beneficiary) for 331 operations for Indonesia in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, health, education, transport, industry & mining, and water and sanitation among others.

The Regional Hub in Indonesia plays a critical role in enhancing the cooperation of the Islamic Development Bank Group in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei.
