“ONE REGION, ONE ECONOMY”: Islamic Development Bank invites members to the 7th Sarajevo Business Forum

Jeddah, KSA, 02 February 2016 – The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) invites political and business leaders from its 56 member countries to participate in the 7th Sarajevo Business Forum (SBF). The forum, organized by the IDB Group in collaboration with Bosna Bank International (BBI), will take place in Sarajevo 4 to 5 May 2016. The theme of SBF 2016 is One region, One economy.
“Bringing investors from our member countries to meet with their counterparts in other member countries is one way to strengthen the business climate and create employment opportunities for our people,” said IDB Group President Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali. “The Sarajevo Business Forum provides a unique forum for investors to create wealth and generate employment.”
Dr. Ali added that SBF provides “a major opportunity” for investors from IDB member countries to explore business connections in Bosnia and the Southeast Europe region.
Mr. Amer Bukvic, CEO of BBI, said that BBI is committed to the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the entire Balkan region and Southeast Europe.
“One of the main objectives of the Sarajevo Business Forum is to connect natural and human resources in the region and open doors to regional companies to enter the Middle East and North African markets where traditional business relationships are very good.”
SBF seeks to attract foreign investment and support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s economic development. It is focusing on developing the information technology industry in the Balkan region and hopes to turn it into a center of excellence for learning and education. It also hopes to help the Balkans become a major source of organic food production in Europe.
SBF will bring together panels to explore investment in energy, infrastructure, agriculture and opportunities in the tourism sector. As a major regional event, SBF offers valuable networking opportunities for local and regional entrepreneurs, business people and fund managers as they reach out to their peers from more than 70 countries.
An estimated 1,000 participants from the Balkans region and around the world attended the SBF 2015.
