Top Malaysian University Confers Honorary Doctorate Degree Upon IDB Group President

Kuala Lumpur 23.10.2010 – During a special ceremony in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur today, President of the IDB Group Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Islamic Banking by the International Center for Education in Islamic Finance(INCEIF) also known as “The Global University in Islamic Finance in Kuala Lumpur”. The Honorary Certificate was granted to Dr. Ali in recognition of the IDB Group’s long standing efforts in spreading and developing Islamic finance and Sharia’ah-compliant economy as well as promoting the Islamic Banks all across the globe.

At the ceremony, attended by H.E. the Governor of the Malaysian Central Bank (Bank Negara) Dato Seri Zeti Akhtar Aziz as well as a large number of Malaysian economists and academics, the IDB Group President lauded the close cooperation between the IDB Group and the Malaysian government underlining the significance of furthering the existing level of cooperation.
During his visit to Malaysia, Dr. Ali also met and conferred with the Malaysia’s alternate governor to the IDB Group H.E Dato Seri Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah.
The IDB Group’s profile with Malaysia presently stands at more than (US$ 1.4 billion) which contributes to financing of many development and infrastructural projects, As well as to many foreign trade operations mainly focused on the Bank’s efforts to promote intra-trade amongst its Member Countries.
