Yemeni Trade and Industry Minister seeks IDB assistance for joining WTO

Jeddah : Saturday, April 1, 2006

H.E Dr. Syed Jaafar Aznan, Acting President of the Islamic Development Bank received today in his office at the Bank's Headquarters in Jeddah H.E Mr. Khaled Rajih Shiekh, Minister of Trade and Industry in the Republic of Yemen.

H.E Mr. Sheikh has commended the good and productive ties between the Bank and Republic of Yemen in all development fields. He also expressed his thanks to the Bank for organizing, last week, a seminar that aimed at helping member countries to join WTO.

He added that the Republic of Yemen is seeking the Bank's assistance for accelerating its accession to the WTO specially in the fields of Trade of Services and Taxation suggesting to forward to the Bank specific needs and areas of help that the Bank can render to the Republic of Yemen.

H.E. Dr. Aznan expressed his thanks to the guest for visiting the Bank and seeking its help for WTO accession. He assured that the Bank will consider the Yemeni suggestions for providing the needed help to facilitate its accession to WTO.
