Phase–III (2019-2021) of the Emergency Plan for Polio Eradication-LLF

Brief Summary
The goal of the project is to contribute to the improvement of health and wellbeing of Pakistani children through eradication of Polio. The specific objective of the project is to stop WPV transmission in Pakistan, by May 2016 maintaining ‘Polio Free’ status for subsequent three years, through countrywide mass Polio vaccination campaigns targeting all children below five years of age, along with extensive community sensitization and mobilization as well as high standard surveillance activities for PEP

Key Results of the Project: The following key results are expected to be achieved by 2018: (i) over 36 million children under the age of five years fully immunized against Polio; (ii) 8 National Immunization Days (NIDs), 12 Sub NIDs, 21 Mop up and 23 ‘Outbreak Case-response’ activities undertaken; (iii) 698.4 million doses of WHO- certified Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) availed; (iv) WPV circulation stopped and Pakistan removed from the list of Polio endemic countries by WHO.
