The RH is responsible the Bank’s operations in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Two projects were evaluated in Education: Construction and Equipping of Vocational Colleges Project in Uzbekistan and the Development and Upgrading of the State University of Jakarta Two Energy-sector projects were postevaluated, the Tehran Power Transmission Project in Iran and the Foundation Wind Project (Phases I&II) in Pakistan.
Dr, Hajjar met also with Sardor Umurzakov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, where he announced US$ 143 million from IsDB Group to the country to support its efforts to face the pandemic.
Ahmad Mohamed Ali, during the 38th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, approved other projects as well; US$ 205 million as the Bank’s contribution for the third phase of social development projects in Indonesia, US$ 170 million for upgrading airlines capacity in Uzbekistan and US$ 32 million to a road project in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
Bandar Hajjar, the meeting wrapped up work on Monday, 27 March, 2016 with several strategic financing approvals including: US $328.5 million for “Reconstruction of Atyrau – Border of Russian Federation (Astrakhan)” project in Kazakhstan; US $300 million for phase two of the “Construction of Rural Housing” project in Uzbekistan; and US $86 million for “Expansion and Development of the Port of Tripoli” project in Lebanon.
Ministers and high level officials from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Pakistan and Albania along with leaders from the private sector and the business community will deliberate on possible strategies for the IDB Group to support the socio-economic development of its member countries in various fields and help tackle poverty at regional and global levels.
Other major approvals accorded were US$ 36 million for Efficient Outdoor Lighting for Tashkent City Project, Uzbekistan; US$ 20 million for Construction of Sukuta-Jambangelly Road Project, the Gambia; and US$ 19.7 million for Enhancing the learning environment at the Islamic University and the Millennium Villages Project (MVP) Phase II in Uganda as well as a US$ 1 million as technical assistance grant for the activities of the African Legal Support Facility.
