2025 IsDB Group Annual Meetings Concluded in Algiers with Endorsement of the Group’s New Strategic Framework
Algiers, Algeria, 22 May 2025: The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group’s Board of Governors has approved a transformative Strategic Framework for 2026–2035, charting a bold path for the next decade of development collaboration with its 57 member countries. Announced at the conclusion of the 2025 IsDB Group Annual Meetings in Algiers, themed “Diversifying Economies, Enriching Lives,” this marks a significant milestone for the institution.
“This Framework is guided by our stakeholders’ insights from the ‘In Riyadh at Fifty Declaration’ and the ‘Governors’ Retreat’ in Madinah this January. It underscores our identity as a development bank from the South, by the South, and for the South, adhering to Islamic principles of solidarity, justice, and mutual trust,” IsDB Group Chairman, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, told reporters at the meeting’s close.
Dr. Al Jasser elaborated that the new Framework will ensure the Group operates at three levels: nationally, to support country-led solutions to maximize impact; regionally, as a platform for knowledge exchange and resource sharing; and globally, as a premier hub for Islamic economics and finance. He emphasized the phased, balanced approach to institutional transformation to maintain continuity while promoting innovation.
The IsDB Group’s Strategic Framework will be implemented through two successive five-year strategies — one for each entity of the Group — with defined priorities, measurable targets, and clear performance indicators.
At the closing press conference, co-chaired with H.E. Abdelkrim Bouzred, Algerian Minister of Finance, H.E. Dr. Al Jasser expressed gratitude to Algerian President H.E. Abdelmadjid Tebboune for his patronage and to the Government and people of Algeria for the warm hospitality and exceptional arrangements. He thanked the media representatives and announced that Baku, Azerbaijan, will host the 2026 IsDB Group Annual Meetings.
The 2025 IsDB Group Annual Meetings brought together over 4,000 participants from 89 countries and 70 institutions, including ministers of economy and finance, central bank governors, global development leaders, senior policymakers, private sector executives, development experts, and representatives of regional and international organizations.
The event featured numerous high-level meetings, the flagship Private Sector Forum, and technical sessions, including the Governors’ Roundtable. During these Annual Meetings, the IsDB Group signed 70 agreements with 26 member countries, worth nearly US$5 billion covering various development sectors.
