Beneficiaries Unveil Success Stories at IDB Group Annual Meeting

A seminar held in conjunction with the 37th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of IDB unveiled some of the success stories from the field in selected member countries as examples of successful implementation of the development agenda of the Islamic Development Bank during the last year. The stories revealed how IDB’s effective intervention through project financing helped change the course and made a meaningful contribution to the lives of millions in member countries as well as Muslim communities in non-member countries.

The seminar also provided an occasion to highlight the business opportunities that are available from the IDB to its stakeholders and helped to create awareness among the national and international business communities on the various financial products offered by the IDB and its affiliate institutions. In his inaugural statement, Mr Birama Sidibe, Vice President (Operations) expressed IDB’s keenness to support development projects in member countries that will ultimately be of great benefit to the community and the Bank’s stakeholders. The Vice Minister of State of Finance and National Economy and Director General of Dams Construction Authority of the Government of Sudan were the guests of honor at the seminar. The State Minister highlighted the role of IDB in supporting socio-economic development in Sudan.

The success stories presented at the seminar by the beneficiaries comprised the Solar Energy Project, Bangladesh; the Microfinance Project, Egypt; the ICT Project, Jordan; and the Power Plant and Water Treatment Projects, Sudan. The Director of Operations Policy & Services Department along with the Director of Infrastructure Department made a joint presentation on the various business opportunities available from the Bank.
