Brunei Darussalam and the IsDB Group Launch First Country Engagement Framework to Strengthen Strategic Cooperation
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, 6 October 2026 – The Government of Brunei Darussalam and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group today launched the IsDB Group–Brunei Darussalam Country Engagement Framework 2026–2028—the first strategic country framework between the two sides.
The Framework opens a new chapter in the longstanding partnership between Brunei Darussalam and the IsDB Group, creating a structured platform to translate shared development priorities into concrete initiatives.
The launch was attended by H.E. Dr. Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister of Finance II and IsDB Alternate Governor for Brunei Darussalam, in Bandar Seri Begawan and H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the IsDB Group exchanged the Framework documents on behalf of the two sides.
Aligned with Wawasan Brunei 2035, the Twelfth National Development Plan, and the IsDB Group’s 10-Year Strategic Framework 2026–2035, the Country Engagement Framework advances a shared agenda for economic diversification and sustainable long-term development.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the IsDB Group, said: “Today, we are not simply launching a strategic document. We are opening a new phase of our partnership. This Framework transforms shared priorities into a shared agenda for action—connecting Brunei Darussalam’s national ambitions with the expertise, resources, and institutions of the IsDB Group.”
The Framework builds on the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Brunei Darussalam and IsDB during Dr. Al Jasser’s visit to the country in August 2024.
Through the joint steering committee and three working groups, the two sides will identify and advance suitable projects and initiatives through 2028, drawing on the IsDB Group’s knowledge, financing instruments, and institutional capabilities.
