Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, 6 October 2026 – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, received H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, at a royal audience held today at Istana Nurul Iman.

The discussion highlighted the longstanding partnership between Brunei Darussalam and the IsDB Group, and the first IsDB Group–Brunei Darussalam Country Engagement Framework (CEF) 2026–2028, launched during the visit, as an important milestone in deepening cooperation. Aligned with Wawasan Brunei 2035, the CEF provides a strategic platform to translate shared priorities into tangible initiatives supporting Brunei Darussalam’s long-term development agenda.

Dr. Al Jasser expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to seek His Majesty’s guidance on how the IsDB Group could further contribute to Brunei Darussalam’s development agenda. The discussions focused on economic transformation and diversification, private sector development, Islamic finance and sustainable growth, in support of Wawasan Brunei 2035.

Dr. Al Jasser also briefed His Majesty on the IsDB Group’s 10-Year Strategic Framework 2026–2035 and its first Five-Year Corporate Strategies 2026–2030. He highlighted its alignment with Wawasan Brunei 2035, including human capital development, economic diversification, Islamic finance, climate resilience, private sector development and knowledge-driven growth.

The meeting also underscored the importance of effective implementation to deliver meaningful development outcomes and further strengthen collaboration between Brunei Darussalam and the IsDB Group.

The royal audience was held during Dr. Al Jasser’s official visit to Brunei Darussalam. It marked his second engagement with His Majesty the Sultan, following his previous official visit in August 2024, reaffirming the continuity and depth of the partnership between Brunei Darussalam and the IsDB Group.
