IDB Group Private Sector Clients Day Held in Sudan

The IDB Group Business Forum (THIQAH) along with the Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation Owners Union, the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC) and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) organized a “Private Sector Clients Day” on Saturday on the sidelines of the 37th Annual Meeting of IDB. H.E Ali Mahmoud Mohammed Abderrasoul, Sudan’s Minister of Finance and National Economy and the Chairman of the Board of Governors of IDB Group inaugurated the event in the presence of CEOs of ICD, ICIEC and ITFC as well as high ranking officials from the private sector in Sudan and IDB member countries.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Ali Mahmoud, Minister of Finance and National Economy of Sudan, lauded the commendable role of the IDB Group to support the economies of the Islamic countries and its ongoing efforts to support Sudan in the fields of economic and social development. The minister also attached great significance to the role of the private sector to enhance sustainable development efforts. He called on the business sector in Sudan to take the best out of the funding opportunities provided by the financial institutions of the IDB including export insurance, direct foreign investment, infrastructure support and consulting services.

The event mainly focused on presenting IDB Group entities’ performance for the year 1432H, sharing knowledge about their activities in member countries, particularly in Sudan, promoting their products and services, and showcasing corporate financing/insurance to the CEOs of banks, SMEs, key conglomerates and technical partners. It helped IDB Group entities to meet potential clients and stakeholders from the private sector as well as providing an opportunity to highlight Sudan’s new role and potential as a gateway to Africa to acquire in-depth knowledge of the major changes and economic developments in Sudan, to assess business, investment and projects opportunities, and to network with the decision-makers, industry leaders and experts.

Each year, the “Private Sector Clients Day” brings together clients of ICD, ITFC and ICIEC, CEOs of local, regional and international financial institutions, CEOs of prestigious local companies and holdings, senior local officials, senior managers of multilateral financial institutions, and the elite of the local, regional and international investors and businessmen.
