IsDB Group Chairman leads delegation at the 2026 World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings in Bangkok

Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 10 October 2026 - H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, will lead a high-level delegation to the 2026 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), taking place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 12 to 19 October 2026.

Amidst a complex global economic landscape, Dr. Al Jasser will engage in strategic dialogues with finance ministers, leaders of multilateral development banks, and key international partners. The discussions will primarily focus on economic stability, trade resilience, scaling development finance, and deepening regional cooperation.

Dr. Al Jasser will hold a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Thailand, the host country.

On Wednesday, 14 October, he will feature as a panelist for the session, “Trade Diversification in Turbulent Times: Implications for Economic Stability and Growth.” The discussion will address how shifting global trade dynamics impact economic resilience, focusing on strategies for trade diversification and economic transformation in emerging markets and developing economies, particularly IsDB member countries.

Dr. Al Jasser will also deliver a keynote address at the high-level forum, “Islamic Finance: From Crisis Resilience to Transition Finance,” highlighting the sector’s vital role in contemporary economic transitions.

Additionally, Dr. Al Jasser will participate in the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (MENAP) Ministers and Governors Meeting with the IMF Managing Director, as well as the Arab Governors Meeting with the WBG President.

On the sidelines of the Annual Meetings, Dr. Al Jasser will conduct bilateral meetings with IsDB Governors and senior representatives from leading international development institutions. Expected meetings include leadership from the WBG, the IMF, the French Development Agency (AFD), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
