IsDB President meets virtually with Governors of Member Countries to discuss financial assistance to combat COVID-19

The virtual meetings between IsDB President and IsDB Governors continued for the third week with the aim of discussing each Member Country’s immediate needs

The virtual meetings between IsDB President and IsDB Governors continued for the third week with the aim of discussing each Member Country’s immediate needs and assessing the challenges posed by COVID-19 especially in health and economic sectors.  

During the meetings Dr. Bandar Hajjar disclosed the emergency finance package to be provided to their countries and emphasised to the Governors that all IsDB Group Entities are working with the technical teams in MCs to provide the necessary assistance.

The Governors appreciated the IsDB Group’s responsiveness and the close coordination between the Group technical teams and their peers in Member Countries, as well as the mechanism employed by IsDB to expedite delivery of the financial assistance. 

The meetings conducted with the following Governors:

  • H.E. Dr. Mohammed Eshteyeh, Prime Minister of Palestine, to discuss the emergency assistance package of US$ 35.7 million 
  • H.E Adriano Afonso, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mozambique, to discuss the emergency assistance package of US$ 28.3 million
  • H.E Gillmore Andre, Minister of Finance, Suriname, to discuss the emergency assistance package to be provided to the country.
  • H.E. Dr. Ali Abdealaziz AlSaawi, Minister of Economy and Industry, Libya, to discuss the emergency assistance package of US$ 62.5 million
  • H.E. Dr. Lassane Kbore, Minister of Economy, Finance and Development, Burkina Faso, to discuss the emergency assistance package of US$ 11million 
  • H.E Alamine Mey Minister of Economy and Planning, Cameroon, to discuss the assistance package to be provided to the country.
  • H.E Mrs. Zainab Shamsuna Minister of Finance, Nigeria, to discuss the assistance package to be provided to the country.
  • H.E. Dr. Wissam A. Rabadi Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Jordan, to discuss the emergency assistance package of US$ 10.5 million 
  • H.E. Muhammed Azhar Minister of Economic Affairs, Pakistan to discuss the assistance package to be provided to the country.
