SDGs Community of Practice

The IsDB has been working closely with its 57 Member Countries to support them in achieving the SDGs. IsDB’s commitment to these goals is further strengthened by their general consistency with Islamic principles, particularly in the context of alleviating poverty, restoring the dignity of people and taking care of the planet while maintaining prosperity for all living beings.

In order to mainstream the SDGs and enhance synergy across the institutionon on the implementation of the SDGs, the Bank has set up an SDGs Community of Practice (SDGs COP) in 2017.
The SDGs COP works along three work streams which includes:
- Raising Awareness among IsDB staff on SDGs,
- Ensuring Alignment of the Bank’s work with the SDGs
- Enhancing Advocacy about the Bank’s work on the SDGs. Furthermore, the COP provides professionals of the IsDB with the opportunity to express their professional views freely through appropriate platforms as well as expand their horizons with respect to development issues by connecting them to experts from across the globe.
The SDGs COP of the Bank formulated two main platforms through which it has supported the “Awareness”, “Alignment” and “Advocacy” workstreams on the SDGs. These platforms include the SDGs Digest and the SDGs Open Dialogues. The SDGs Digest is a quarterly newsletter which provides a platform for professionals in the Bank as well as professionals from development partners to share their project related experiences, expertise and lessons learned, research-based activities related to the SDGs, as well as insights on issues related to the achievement of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
So far, our SDGs Digests have been issued with more than 120 authors from across the IsDB Group as well as development partners contributing articles covering a wide range of topics on all the SDGs that are a priority for the IsDB and its entities. In particular, articles have touched on development areas such as climate change, youth and women development, poverty alleviation, agriculture and food security, health, education and financing for the SDGs, among others.
SDG's Open Dialogue
Another important platform is the SDGs Open Dialogue, which is organized as a seminar with eminent personalities as guest speakers.
