Since 2018, the two international institutions have joined hands to improve lives and livelihoods on various occasions including the Ebola crisis in West Africa in 2018; the COVID-19 related projects in Maldives, Cameroon, Benin, Chad, Guinea, Mozambique, Mali, and Senegal; the Oncology services in Uzbekistan; and the Malaria eradication initiative in Nigeria.
Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan, 01 March 2024 – Islamic Development Bank Regional Hub Almaty, Kazakhstan (RHA), hosted its annual staff retreat, where its staff including the Field Representatives from Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, convened to reflect on the achievements of the past year and set the course for 2024.

IsDB and ADB Common Member Countries include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The IsDB Group also launched its revamped Member Country Partnership Strategy documents for Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Niger which will activate the IsDB Group Country Engagement Framework within the respective countries to support multilateral development and growth.
This realignment was at the request of IsDB governors during the Bank's 46th Annual Meeting in Uzbekistan in September 2021.
The two institutions are also promoting SmartEd (Smart Education) which aims to transform education in several countries including Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, and Cameroon in cooperation with major contributors like the Arab Coordination Group (ACG).
These toolkits were initially launched in their English version during the 2021 IsDB Group Annual Meetings in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
Uzbekistan: US$ 138.80 million to upgrade an existing road, from a four-lane dual carriageway to a six-lane dual one, in order to accommodate current and future traffic demands, enhance regional and local connectivity, and improve road safety.
It shares borders with Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and has access to the Caspian Sea in the West, between Iran and Kazakhstan.
