Africa City of Technology: Facilitating the Blue Print for a Success Story Between Turkey & Sudan

IsDB Group Regional Hub Turkey facilitates the first steps for AFRICA CITY OF TECHNOLOGY; A Reverse Linkage capacity sharing initiative between Turkey and Sudan

Ankara, Turkey, 8 October 2019 - The first meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of the Reverse Linkage capacity sharing project between Sudan and Turkey on “Capacity Development for the Africa City of Technology (ACT)” was organized by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in the office of the IsDB Regional Hub Turkey, in Ankara, on 8th October 2019.

The meeting focused on reviewing the project progress with regard to its initial plan and identifying the required adjustments when needed with respect to time, budget, and the qualitative objectives of the project.

The session was attended by representatives of the project partners, namely; the Africa City of Technology (ACT), TUBITAK Marmara Techno-park (MARTEK), Uludag University Techno-Park (ULUTEK), Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre (SESRIC), and the IsDB.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Saleh Jelassi, the Regional Manager of IsDB Regional Hub of Turkey, welcomed the participants and reiterated the IsDB’s appreciation for the contribution of all the partners to the project cost, and also reiterated IsDB’s commitment towards the project’s full success.

The second meeting of the JCC is to convene on 21st January 2020 in the capital city of Khartoum.
