RHT Director Confers with IsDB Governor for Türkiye

A meeting between H.E. Dr. Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Treasury and Finance and IsDB Governor for Turkiye, and Dr. Walid Abdelwahab, Director of the Islamic Development Bank Group Regional Hub Türkiye, focused on an interactive discussion of current and future collaboration between Türkiye and IsDB Group.

Ankara, Türkiye, 20 February 2024 – A meeting between H.E. Dr. Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Treasury and Finance and IsDB Governor for Türkiye, and Dr. Walid Abdelwahab, Director of the Islamic Development Bank Group Regional Hub Türkiye, focused on an interactive discussion of current and future collaboration between Turkiye and IsDB Group.

During the meeting which took place at the premises of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of the Republic of Türkiye in Ankara, Dr. Walid Abdelwahab briefed His Excellency the Minister on the progress being made on the Country Engagement Framework (CEF) which is due for signing between Türkiye and IsDB Group during the upcoming IsDB group Annual Meeting and Golden Jubilee celebrations slated for April 2024 in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

H.E. Minister Şimşek appreciated IsDB Group’s long-standing partnership with the Republic of Turkiye and confirmed his eagerness to attend the upcoming Annual Meetings of the IsDB Group and sign the CEF with IsDB President and Group Chairman, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser.

The CEF is expected to mark a new milestone in Turkiye-IsDB Group development partnership under the theme of “Supporting Resilient and Inclusive Sustainable Turkiye”. The document is fully aligned with the country’s national development plans for macroeconomic stabilization.

The Republic of Turkiye is a founding member of the Islamic Development Bank. As a trusted development partner to Turkiye, IsDB has, to date, approved nearly US$ 13 billion in financing for socio-development projects in the country in various sectors including renewable energy and energy security, transport and highspeed railway, healthcare, education, agriculture, as well as other infrastructure projects.
