Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hosts Chairman of IsDB Group for Collaboration Talks

Cairo, February 4, 2024, Egypt’s Minister of Planning & Economic Development, HE Dr. Hala ElSaeed, met with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Chairman, HE Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, in Cairo to discuss closer cooperation.  

The meeting focused on exploring new avenues for partnership between Egypt and the IsDB Group, with key figures like Dr. Nada Masoud, IsDB Executive Director for Egypt, Mr. Kamal Nasr, Assistant Minister of Planning, Ambassador Hazem Khairat, Advisor to the Minister for International Cooperation, and Ms. May Babiker, Acting Manager of the IsDB Group’s Cairo Regional Office, joining the discussion. 

Dr. Al Jasser emphasized that the visit was part of the IsDB’s efforts to bolster its evolving partnership with Egypt. He expressed his intention to sign cooperation agreements aimed at helping implement crucial projects across various fields. He lauded the constructive cooperation between the two sides, citing the approval of two projects in 2023, including the significant project to enhance the contribution of small and micro enterprises to food security. 

Praising the IsDB Group as a “strategic development partner,” Dr. ElSaeed commended the fruitful collaboration between Egypt and the IsDB Group in various areas. She pointed to the impressive $20.72 billion portfolio with successful projects across diverse sectors like industry, mining, energy, trade, and agriculture.   

The meeting reflects the commitment of both parties to deepen their strategic partnership, signifying a shared dedication to future collaboration and the implementation of significant projects that will contribute to the development of Egypt.
