Egypt’s Prime Minister Receives IsDB Group Chairman

Cairo - February 04 2024, The Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, was hosted by the Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, at the Prime Minister’s Office in the New Administrative Capital, Cairo.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly updated Dr. Al Jasser on the ongoing development projects in Egypt, and the two leaders engaged in discussions on various mutual economic interests.

Expressing contentment with the positive relations between the IsDB Group and Egypt, Dr. Al Jasser highlighted the continuous growth in cooperation since the approval of the Bank’s first operation in Egypt in September 1977. Notably, the Islamic Development Bank Group’s total interventions in Egypt reached US$ 20.72 billion as of September 30, 2023.

Emphasizing the IsDB’s commitment to climate finance, Dr. Al Jasser announced a goal to direct at least 35% of its operations toward this initiative by 2025. This commitment includes investments in green infrastructure, specifically targeting sectors like transportation, renewable energy, climate-resilient agriculture, urban development, and water.
