IDB extends US$ 10 million for food security and poverty alleviation in Sierra Leone

The Islamic Development Bank and Republic of Sierra Leone have singed a loan financed agreement at DS7 million (US$10 million) for a project aiming at increasing productivity and diversifying the production of corps and animals in sierra Leone. The agreement was signed at the Bank's Headquarters in Jeddah, KSA.

H.E. Al Hajj Imad Al –dien Tegan Cy, the Ambassador of Sierra Leone to Saudi Arabia signed the agreement on behalf of the Republic of Sierra Leone, while HE. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali, the President of IDB signed on behalf of the Bank.

The project comprises rural infrastructure including inland valley swamp development, construction and equipment of socio-economic infrastructure (rural roads, village markets, drying floors and storage facilities) and providing institutional strengthening services.

It is worth mentioning that the total finances approved by the Bank in favor of Sierra Leone reached US$ 70 million, covering 32 development projects in fields of Education, Health, Roads, Agriculture, Water supplies and Rural development.
