IDB President discusses cooperation with the Minister of Economic Infrastructure, Republic of Cote d'Ivoire

Jeddah, 18.8.09:
H.E. Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali, President of the Islamic Development Bank Group received in his office at the Bank headquarters in Jeddah, H.E. Mr. Ashi Patrik the Minister of Economic infrastructure in the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, and the accompanying delegation. .
Mr. Patrik conveyed, during the audience, to Dr. Ali the sincere thanks and appreciation of H.E. the President of the state and the Prime Minster for the active role and significant contributions of the Bank in various areas of development in Cote d'Ivoire. He also extended his government’s invitation to IDB, President for being honored by the Head of State in recognition of the Bank’s distinguished role in supporting development in Cote d'Ivoire.

The minister explained to Dr. Ali the implications of the economic crisis and its impact on the economy of his country, and efforts exerted to overcome the crisis. In this connection he noted that the construction sector in Cote d'Ivoire was the most hit by the crisis, stressing that their efforts are designed to overcome the effects of the crisis by the end of this year. .
The Minister reviewed the work progress in the Bank’s projects in Cote d'Ivoire. He also called the Bank to contribute to the completion of some major projects being implemented, including the completion of the latter part of the highway link between Singrobo and Yamoussoukro, in addition to the Third Bridge of Abidjan. .
For his part, IDB. President expressed his greetings and thanks to H.E. the President of the state and the Prime Minister, Cote d'Ivoire for the kind feelings towards the Bank. Accepting the Government’s invitation, Dr. Ali commended the generous initiative of the Government to honor the Bank. Also he paid tribute to the evolving relations between the Bank and the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire.
He stressed that the Bank will do its best to contribute to the projects required additional funding in collaboration with development partners in the Arab Funds.
