IDB to host Expert Group Meeting on Unemployment

The Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank Group is set to host an Expert Group Meeting, EGM, in its headquarters on 9-10 May, 2011, focusing on “unemployment in IDB member countries in the post crisis world”.
Experts from different financial international organizations, regional institutions as well as the 56 IDB member countries are expected to attend the EGM, scheduled to be inaugurated by IDB Vice-President Dr. Ahmed Tiktik. Several topics are to feature during the discussions at the meeting including; “the causes and consequences of the unemployment crisis, capability enhancement, public-private partnership for generating employment opportunities and the role of SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises) and Microfinance in generating employment opportunities.”
The EGM comes in the framework of on-going preparations for the upcoming 36th Annual Meeting of the governors of the IDB member countries slated for 29-30 June, 2011 in the coastal city of Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ministers of economy, finance and planning from IDB member states are to attend the high profile yearly event.
