Jeddah,9.11.08 The Islamic Development Bank Group President Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali will participate in the International Conference on Waqf and Islamic Civilization to be held under the auspices of the President of Iran Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on 12-13 Dhual-Qa’dah 1429H (12-13 November 2008) in Isfahan.

Details:The Islamic Development Bank Group President Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali will participate in the International Conference on Waqf and Islamic Civilization to be held under the auspices of the President of Iran Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on 12-13 Dhual-Qa’dah 1429H (12-13 November 2008) in Isfahan. The conference aims at introducing and expanding on Waqf and endowed properties in Iran. It will feature significant Iranian and foreign experts in the scientific, executive, and political fields and will be the first time for such a goal to be achieved through an international conference. The conference is regarded as the climax in the relations and interactions of Awqaf and charity works organizations with foreign countries and other organizations in Iran. During the two-day conference, all dimensions of Waqf will be discussed and analyzed, as related to Muslim countries. The IDB Group President will deliver a statement during the conference, which will also be attended by representatives from the World Waqf Foundation, a member of the IDB Group. Additionally the Islamic Research and Training Institute, the arm of IDB on research, will deliver a working paper entitled “The Role of Waqf in Islamic Civilizations.” Scholars hailing from (10) countries including Singapore, UAE, Egypt, Tanzania, Indonesia, Kenya and South Africa have been selected to present their papers during the international conference. Meanwhile, Dr. Ali will hold various official meetings with Iranian officials in Tehran alongside the IDB a Governor in Iran and Minister of Economy and Finance Dr. Seyyed Shams El-Deen Husseini.
