The Islamic Development Bank Provides US$ 4.7million for Water Supply Project in Gambia

The Islamic Development Bank Group signed an agreement allocating USD 4.7 million to finance the Gunjur Water Supply Project in the Gambia to fund a project providing the Gunjur region, a rural area in the south-western region of the Gambia, with safe drinking water.

IDB Group President Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali and the Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia Lamin Kiti Jabang signed the agreement on 30 Dhual-Qa’dah 1429H (28 December 2008) at IDB headquarters in Jeddah.

The project was approved by the Board of Directors of the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development at a meeting held on 27 Dhual-Qa’dah 1429H (27 December 2008), whose programs include support efforts to provide clean and safe drinking water in member countries.
