ULUTEK Technopark Incubates “Africa City of Technology"

The Uludağ university, well known for its status in medicine, engineering, natural and social sciences, and arts, houses the ULUTEK Technopark which is currently the incubating ground for a major Reverse Linkage Project between Sudan and Turkey for “Capacity Development for the Africa City of Technology (ACT)” mainly funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group.

Bursa, Turkey, 29 November 2019 – The northwestern city of Bursa, Turkey’s 4th most populous city, is home to Uludağ University, one the best public research universities in the country.

The university, well known for its status in medicine, engineering, natural and social sciences, and arts, houses the ULUTEK Technopark which is currently the incubating ground for a major Reverse Linkage Project between Sudan and Turkey for “Capacity Development for the Africa City of Technology (ACT)” mainly funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group.  

In late November 2019, a delegation headed by the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group President H.E. Dr. Bandar Hajjar paid a visit to ULUTEK Technopark, the technology development zone in Uludağ University where His Excellency was also presented a token of appreciation for the all out support provided by the IsDB Group to the ACT project.

During the visit, aimed at getting a first-hand account of the progress in ACT Project, the relevant officials briefed H.E. Dr. Bandar Hajjar on the facilities of the techno-park and how they are supporting the ACT to be launched in Sudan as a major enterprise that is to provide a suitable environment for technology localization and incubation for this African country’s human and economic development.

Prof. Dr. Prof. Dr. İrfan KARAGÖZ, General Manager of ULUTEK Technopark; Mr. Cüneyt ŞENER, Acting President of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and H.E. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Saim KILAVUZ, Rector of Bursa Uludağ University also attended the event and praised the technical and financial support by the IsDB Group for improving the capacity for this unique project which banks on Turkey’s experience, know-how and technology through ULUTEK.

Reverse Linkage is an IsDB generated capacity sharing initiative that is designed to facilitate sharing of the latest scientific knowledge and technological know-how between science and technology power houses of the Islamic Development Bank Member Countries and the less developed Member Countries of the Bank.
