Brunei’s Ministry of Finance & Economy (MOFE) Visits IsDB Center of Excellence Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 26 May 2025 – The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Kuala Lumpur Center of Excellence (KLCoE) welcomed an official delegation from the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Brunei Darussalam for a strategic engagement aimed at enhancing collaboration in Islamic finance, the Halal industry, and micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) development.

The visit was welcomed by Mr. Samer Elesawi, Head of the IsDB KLCoE, who received the delegation and led in-depth discussions on areas of mutual interest between IsDB and Brunei. The discussion centered on potential collaboration across key thematic areas including Islamic finance, halal industry development, and MSME support. The discussions also covered IsDB’s potential support for Brunei’s capacity building and Reverse Linkage initiatives as well as corporate sukuk issuances.

The Bruneian delegation, led by Dr. Mohd Aidil Yusrie Shari, Head of Sukuk Financing Office of MOFE engaged with KLCoE experts to better understand the Center’s operations, particularly its role in ecosystem development, value chain integration, and market expansion.

The meeting reflected shared aspirations to strengthen economic resilience, drive innovation in Islamic financial ecosystems, and build inclusive, sustainable growth while further strengthening the cooperation between IsDB and Brunei.
