IsDB and Exim Bank Malaysia Wrap up Joint Training on Monitoring and Evaluation

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 6 March 2024 – A three-day training on monitoring and evaluation jointly organized by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) through its Center of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur (KLCoE) and the Export-Import (EXIM) Bank Malaysia, and conducted by experts from the Independent Evaluation Department (IEvD) and ICD, has wrapped up the work in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.

Earlier, in kickstarting the training, Mr. Samer Elesawi, Head of IsDB Center of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur took the stage in welcoming the participants. In his welcoming remarks, he highlighted the need for being very objective and timely in Monitoring & Evaluation data collection, prioritizing need-based evidence agenda, using technology for data analysis and strengthening knowledge management system.

A keynote speaker at the closing and certificate awarding ceremony was Dr. Issa Faye, IsDB’s Director General for Global Practice and Partnership, who congratulated the EXIM Bank Malaysia’s staff for having attended the training. After taking part in the certificate presentation ceremony, Dr. Faye highlighted the need for use of technology in monitoring and evaluation especially for real time data collection, analysis, and synthesis for efficient and effective program management.

He then referred to this training as an important instance of cooperation between IsDB and EXIM Bank Malaysia as strategic partners promoting developing operational efficiency especially in IsDB member countries.

Dr. Faye also expressed thanks to IsDB Center of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur for initiating the collaboration between IsDB Group and EXIM Bank Malaysia, in which the Development Effectiveness Office of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of Private Sector (ICD) has also played a major role in this initiative.
