Malaysia’s MTDC and IsDB CoE Discuss Cooperation

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 12 April 2021 – Head of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB)’s Center of Excellence (CoE), Mr. Mohamed Abida, has led an official visit to the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) on 12th April 2021, where he and the delegation were received by Dato’ Norhalim Yunus, CEO of the Malaysia Technology Development Corporation (MTDC).

MTDC is an agency under Malaysia’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) with a mandate to fund technology-based startups and nurturing them with the overarching objective of contributing towards the development of innovation in Malaysia.

Over the past 28 years, MTDC has developed a proven solid track record with a rich experience in developing locally based technology companies such as those involved in the development of automated guided vehicles, assisted robotics used for rubbish collection, sensors used by agri-based microenterprises, remote monitoring for logistics, retrofitting machines, health diagnostics, etc.

The IsDB CoE in Kuala Lumpur plans to further collaborate with MTDC, building on the success of the investee companies by scaling up their operations in other IsDB Member Countries, promoting their solutions on CoE’s E-Gateway platform and potentially conduct a study on STI ecosystem in IsDB Member Countries.
