RH Almaty Participates in the 2nd Almaty Energy Forum

Almaty, Kazakhstan, 14 November 2022 – The Head of RH Almaty, Mr. Ibrahim Shoukry participated in the 2nd Almaty Energy Forum - High Level Panel II – Building resilient energy systems in Central Asia, organized by United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), on 14 Nov. 2022, where he shared wider views on IsDB energy interventions and elaborated on IsDB financing instruments being the backbone to societal development, including renewable energy, decarbonization, innovation, and trade, in IsDB Member Countries. The objective of the forum was to re-engage and identify challenges posed by the implementation of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development specifically in Central Asia, and discuss the possibilities for investing in regional and transboundary projects and refining approach, financing mechanisms and partnerships jointly and in a more effective and interactive cooperation. The participants elaborated on opportunities for green and sustainable projects that would bring several Central Asian countries together, and addressing transboundary or regional needs and opportunities and that may be funded via a combination of national budgets, donor funds and eventually private or IFI financing. Based on these planned ambitions, the panelists welcome for an active role of the United Nations Agencies laying the fundamental studies for bankable and inclusive projects for Central Asian countries.
