IsDB Regional Hub Indonesia and UNDP Discuss Islamic Finance in the Context of SDGs

Jakarta, Indonesia, 12 October 2022 - The Islamic Development Bank Regional Hub Indonesia held a meeting with the senior officials from United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Jakarta, Indonesia, 12 October 2022 - The Islamic Development Bank Regional Hub Indonesia held a meeting with the senior officials from United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The UNDP team was led by Ms. Kanni Wignaraja, Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, UNDP. She was accompanied by Mr. Norimasha Shimamura, Resident Representative in Indonesia, UNDP; and Mrs. Sujala Pant, Deputy Resident Representative in Indonesia, UNDP. 

IsDB Regional Head, Mr. Salah Jelassi, led the team from IsDB Group Regional Hub Indonesia and provided a snapshot of the existing and potential IsDB portfolio as well as the recently launched Member Country Partnership strategy (MCPS) Indonesia 2022-2025.

The meeting focused on exchanging views on Islamic Finance in the context of its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia and discussing UNDP’s proposal to galvanize the role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to address multiple dimensions related to youth employment, green jobs, and economic recovery.

Both teams expressed their willingness to further deepen the strong collaboration framework between the two Organizations and to continue technical consultations to explore Project and Program-specific partnership modalities.
